Fairfield High School is seeking to employ, on a permanent basis, a Design & Technology / Art Technician for 37 hours per week, term time only plus 7 Inset days.
You will work in close liaison with teachers and assist in the day-to-day preparation of teaching resources and maintenance of equipment. The successful candidate should be confident in the use of technical and practical equipment and have the appropriate practical and technical skills, training and H&S DT certification to use workshop equipment. You should be logical, have good time management and be able to use your own initiative and work alone at times.
Main duties and responsibilities will include:
• Prepare classrooms and workshops for use by staff and students, ensuring a safe and tidy working environment
• Assist and support teaching staff in delivering practical activities in lessons
• Assist teaching staff in creating teaching resources and materials
• Maintain, clean and repair equipment (seeking specialist assistance when necessary) in order to ensure safe and efficient operation
• Replace belts, sharpen & oil machines
• Use machinery in workshops to help support students project work
• Ensure all materials and tools are stored securely each day
• Maintain inventory of materials and equipment and associated stocktaking duties
• Place orders and check deliveries
• Adhere to current Health and Safety requirements
Hours of work will be 8.00am – 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am – 3.30pm Fridays (inclusive of half an hour for lunch). Actual salary based on points 7 – 9, term time only plus 7 additional days, will be £21,533 - £22,264 per annum (full time equivalent of £24,780 - £25,622).
