Fairfield High School is looking to appoint one full time assistant caretaker to work 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday all year round. Working hours are varied, ideally successful candidate to be flexible and also be able to provide cover for annual leave/sickness if necessary. Hours to be covered are from 06.30 - 2.30pm Mondays to Thursdays / 06.30 to 5.30pm Fridays. Actual hours can be discussed in more detail at interview.

Salary will be paid at points 8 – 10, £26,824 - £27,694. This is a permanent contract working all year with 26 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays. (After 5 years service annual leave will increase to 31 days per year plus Bank Holidays).
The successful applicant will be/have:
- • 1 year’s experience of working in a similar role or be able to show they have the necessary skills to meet the demands of the role
- • Experience of Health & Safety systems and procedures including Fire Safety, COSHH. Making ‘Health & Safety’ observations is an important aspect of the job
- • Willing to undertake relevant training, including Health & Safety
- • General maintenance skills, including painting and decorating and basic plumbing would be desirable.
- • An eye for detail to ensure the site is well maintained and well presented at all times. This will include an element of daily cleaning and will also involve cleaning and litter picking
- • Manage the School Security, unlocking and locking of all doors, entries and exists – ensuring the site is secure but accessible at all times
- • Liaising with and monitoring the work of contractors including cleaner contractors
- • Ordering various equipment and supplies as necessary
- • An excellent communicator, with good people-skills
- • Comfortable working with and around children and adults
- • Flexible, responsive and self-motivated
- • Good communication skills – required to liaise with hirers
- Have good IT skills - Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Be able to use and operate a BMS system
